Cynthia A. Littlefield
Cyndy Littlefield is the AJCU Vice President for Federal Relations. Her tenure at AJCU began in 1996 when she was hired as Director of Federal Relations. Littlefield has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Loyola University New Orleans, and a Master of Arts in Women Studies, with a specialization of Women in Politics, from George Washington University.
Prior to joining AJCU, Littlefield worked on Capitol Hill for Congresswoman Lindy Boggs (D-LA) and interned for former Speaker Jim Wright. She also worked in the Office of Congressional Affairs at FEMA. In addition to her government background, Littlefield is the former Executive Director of the Washington Workshops Foundation, Presidential Classroom, and the National Limousine Association. She also founded Littlefield and Associates, a consulting firm that focused on issues such as appropriations, taxes, education and drug/health issues and represented numerous clients.
At AJCU, Ms. Littlefield organizes the AJCU Federal Relations Network, comprised of representatives from each of the twenty-eight Jesuit colleges and universities. The network meets annually in Washington, DC and is a lobbying arm for AJCU. As Director of Federal Relations, Ms. Littlefield works on appropriations, budget, taxes and higher education authorizing issues. She has served as President of the Committee for Education Funding, the largest education coalition in the United States, consisting of education associations from pre-kindergarten through higher education. Ms. Littlefield has also been a professional negotiator before the Department of Education in the official rulemaking process representing the 28 Jesuit Colleges and Universities.
