Interim Vice President for Federal Relations
Scott S. Fleming serves as Interim Vice President for Federal Relations at AJCU. From 2001 to 2018, he served his alma mater, Georgetown University, as Associate Vice President for Federal Relations.
Scott came to Georgetown from the U.S. Department of Education, where he served as Assistant Secretary for Legislation and Congressional Affairs, as well as Deputy Assistant Secretary and Director of Congressional Affairs. Prior to joining the Department, he served in a number of professional staff positions for several members of Congress, including Senator Stuart Symington (D-MO); former Representative (and later U.S. Secretary of Agriculture) Dan Glickman (D-KS); and Representative Nita M. Lowey (D-NY). Under Representatives Glickman and Lowey, Scott served as chief of staff.
In addition to his extensive congressional experience, Scott has served on the board of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) as well as the Public Policy Advisory Committee of NAFSA: Association of International Educators. He currently serves on the board of directors for the International Student House.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas-Austin.
