This weekend, you can hear Jesuit university choirs across the country sing traditional Advent hymns and Christmas carols in concert! Concerts will be held at Fairfield University on Friday, Dec. 4th and Saturday, Dec. 5th; Georgetown University,Marquette University, Regis University, Rockhurst University, Santa Clara University and Wheeling Jesuit University on Friday, Dec. 4th; The University of Scranton on Saturday, Dec. 5th; Fordham University on Saturday, Dec. 5th and Sunday, Dec. 6th; Boston College and Loyola University New Orleans on Sunday, Dec. 6th; Loyola Marymount University on Thursday, Dec. 10th and Saturday, Dec. 12th; and John Carroll University on Saturday, Dec. 12th.
The annual Advent Festivals of Lessons and Carols at Loyola University Maryland and College of the Holy Cross will be livestreamed on Friday, December 4th and Thursday, Dec. 10th, respectively. St. Aedan's Church's Advent concert featuringSaint Peter’s University alumni was held on Wednesday, December 2nd and was featured in a write-up in the Jersey Journal.
Le Moyne College’s resident noted physicist Rev. George Coyne, S.J. will deliver a guest homily on “An Advent Awakening: God’s Children Made of Stardust” during this weekend’s Masses at local Syracuse church St. Ann’s Parish. Special Advent and Christmas Masses for alumni will be held this weekend at Saint Joseph’s University and Seattle University.
Christmas tree decorating and lighting ceremonies have been held this week at Canisius College, Creighton University,Spring Hill College and the University of San Francisco. Other fun winter events this month include “Sneaux” at Loyola University New Orleans on Wednesday, Dec. 9th and the University of Detroit Mercy Theatre Company’s presentation of It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play in downtown Detroit over the next two weekends.
The popular online ministry websites for Creighton University and Xavier University both feature quotes, prayers and devotionals for each day of Advent leading up to Christmas. Saint Louis University is also offering daily online Advent reflections from SLU faculty and staff. And in the spirit of the traditional Advent calendar, Gonzaga University and Loyola University Chicago have created amazing interactive online Advent calendars; check them out every day between now and Christmas!
