WASHINGTON, DC - This week, eight Jesuit men's basketball teams (Creighton University, Georgetown University, Gonzaga University, Loyola University Maryland, Marquette University, Saint Louis University, University of Detroit Mercy and Xavier University) and three Jesuit women's basketball teams (Creighton University, Georgetown University and Gonzaga University) will compete in the NCAA Division I tournament.

Several other Jesuit men's basketball teams are competing in post-season tournaments. There will be one Jesuit men's team in the NIT (Saint Joseph's) and two in the College Insider Tournament (CIT) (Fairfield and Loyola Marymount), meaning that 11 of the 20 Division I Jesuit men's teams received postseason tournament bids. In addition, Jesuit men's teams competed in the NCAA Division II (Wheeling) and NCAA Division III (Scranton) tournaments, making the final tally 13 Jesuit men's teams in the post-season.

Among the women's Division I teams, Seattle earned a bid to the Women's Basketball Invitational. In the WNIT, Fairfield, Saint Joseph's and University of Detroit Mercy will all compete. Finally, Loyola New Orleans earned a bid to the NAIA National Division I Tournament. In total, eight women's Jesuit teams will compete in the post-season tournaments.

AJCU congratulates all Jesuit universities competing in post-season tournaments, and wishes all student-athletes and coaches the best of luck.
