The President's Honor Roll has been administered every year since 2006, to honor colleges and universities for their community service programs and student engagement. This year's awardees were announced on March 12th at the American Council on Education’s 94th Annual Meeting.
WASHINGTON, DC - Twenty-two Jesuit colleges and universities have been named to the 2012 U.S. President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. One Jesuit institution, Seattle University, was named a presidential awardee; one Jesuit institution, Loyola University Chicago, was named an honor roll finalist; and another Jesuit institution, Regis University, was named to the honor roll with distinction. Nineteen Jesuit institutions were named to the honor roll.

Seattle University received the highest honor of presidential awardee for its Seattle University Youth Initiative program, which was founded in 2011. The program partners faculty, staff and students with 30 Seattle, WA community organizations, the City of Seattle, and the Seattle Public School District to help motivate children in the local Bailey Gatzert neighborhood to succeed in school through educational classes and programs.
The following Jesuit institutions were named to the 2012 President’s Honor Roll: Boston College, Creighton University, Fairfield University, Fordham University, Georgetown University, Gonzaga University, John Carroll University, Le Moyne College, Loyola Marymount University, Loyola University Maryland, Marquette University, Rockhurst University, Saint Joseph's University, Saint Louis University, Santa Clara University, University of Detroit Mercy, University of San Francisco, University of Scranton, and Wheeling Jesuit University.
