Executive Director, Ignatian Colleagues Program (ICP)
Joseph A. DeFeo, Ph.D. began his role as Executive Director of the Ignatian Colleagues Program (ICP) on August 1, 2014. Prior to leading ICP, DeFeo was Associate Dean of Students and Director of Student Mission and Identity Programs at Fairfield University, where he assisted faculty, staff and students to incorporate Jesuit values, charism, and pedagogy into their workplace. He also coordinated Fairfield’s sophomore residential colleges and living and learning initiatives that foster vocational and discernment opportunities for undergraduate students. DeFeo is an adjunct faculty member at Fairfield and teaches a course on Ignatian Spirituality.
DeFeo earned his Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in theology from Boston College. He received his Ph.D. from Fordham University, where his research centered on Ignatian pedagogy in Jesuit higher education. He also holds a certificate in directing the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises from Fairfield University and The Jesuit Collaborative. He and his wife, Therese, live in Bethel, CT and are the parents of two teenage children.
