Welcome to the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight page!
The Jesuit Basketball Spotlight project is a nationwide effort to identify basketball games between Jesuit schools during the upcoming 2009-2010 season, and, through those games, bring greater positive awareness to Jesuit education and mission. This project was developed by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) in response to member institutions wanting to spread the word of Jesuit higher education through the more than 90 basketball games in which Jesuit institutions play each other (men and women) this 2009-2010 year.
Over the last few years, many interested parties have sought a way to take better advantage of Jesuit basketball to create unified awareness, heighten media attention and celebrate our common Jesuit mission. The Jesuit Basketball Spotlight games allow Jesuit institutions to do this through targeted messaging; media, television and radio announcements; and other marketing communications initiatives during game operations.

Schedule a halftime academic honors ceremony.
Schedule a halftime service honors ceremony
Coordinate with your local Jesuit Volunteer Corps to collect canned goods before a game
Schedule an interview with your Jesuit president or mission and identity rep for local advance newscasts or game coverage

WHY THE JBS IS IMPORTANT AND WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
The Jesuit Basketball Spotlight is an effort of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) to promote the values of Jesuit higher education through the more than 90 men's and women's basketball games played between Jesuit opponents.
As the JBS continues and grows in the future, it is designed to:
- Increase attendance at Jesuit games
- Increase visibility of the Jesuit educational mission
- Enhance athletic recruitment efforts
- Increase enrollment
- Increase fundraising
Available materials for the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight pilot project:
GAME OPERATIONS BLURB: Once you have downloaded the “Game Operations Blurb," arrange, through Game Operations staff, to have the blurb read at one timeout (or
similar break) during all your home games scheduled against a Jesuit opponent.
GAME BROADCAST/TELECAST BLURB: Once you have downloaded the “Game Broadcast/Telecast Blurb”, arrange, through the Sports Information Bureau staff, to have the blurb read on the air once during each home game against a Jesuit opponent, through your radio and/or television partners.
MEDIA GAME DAY NOTES/ADVANCE MEDIA BLURBS: Once you have downloaded the “Media Game Day Notes/Advance Media Blurbs” file from the website, use the selections in day-of-game media notes. Notes are also available for advance media.
LOGO PACKAGE: The Jesuit Basketball Spotlight logo is available in several versions for download. This logo can be used in any way you choose: on arena scoreboards; in day-of-game media notes; etc.

In cooperation with your university marketing communications and mission/ministry offices, consider more advanced awareness possibilities, including working with local advance media; and making Presidents, Vice Presidents for Mission or notable alumni available for local news or halftime interviews (emphasizing the Jesuit mission) on television and radio during Jesuit home games. The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities is happy to help you with these initiatives.
