INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER/SERVICE/IMMERSION PROGRAMS
Dominican Republic and Belize
- UDM dental faculty and alumni go with dental students to remote areas in alternating years to the Dominican Republic or Belize to provide dental services to the population and to provide updated training to dentists there. This humanitarian project is now part of an ongoing international program through Partners of the Americas
Jamaica
- This is an expansion of the Alternative Spring Break program. Students, faculty and University Ministry staff leave at the end of the academic year to provide service in Mandeville, Jamaica.

INTERNATIONALIZATION OF THE CURRICULUM:
Related Majors/Minors/Concentrations:
The School of Law offers a joint JD/LLB with the University of Windsor.
There are concentrations in international business at both undergraduate and graduate levels. There is a concentration within the political science major.
Planning is underway for an international studies certificate and an international concentration in the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, both of which would be interdisciplinary.
Languages available/Language requirements:
Arabic, German, Japanese, Latin, Portuguese, Polish, Russian and Spanish classes; individual and small group classes in Hebrew, Greek, Chinese, Croatian, and ESL.
Any special library or audiovisual resources:
Reasonable collections of the classics in the major western languages; French and German fairly well represented through the 19th century with major writers beyond; the Italian collection is slightly smaller; Latin and Greek have the standards. There are some language learning materials in VHS and audio tape and a few CD/DVDs as well.
