INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER/SERVICE/IMMERSION PROGRAMS

Mexico

  • Term of service: 2 Weeks; Students work in a camp for children and work at the Mother Theresa Home for physically and mentally disabled. About 30-25 students that participated in program.

 

Jamaica, Summer Service Trip

  • Term of Service: 10 Days; Students work with senior citizens, children living with HIV, and local inner-city school children. About 20-25 students participate.

El Salvador

  • Term of Service: 1 Month; Service project and experience-based learning in the history, economics, and Cultural aspects of Christianity in El Salvador. About 5-10 students participate.

Highlighted Programs:

Two study abroad programs which represent the quality of this institutions study abroad programs are: The University of Oviedo, Spain and the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia. At the University of Oviedo students are given the unique opportunity to live with host families where they are totally immersed in the language and rich culture that Oviedo has to offer. The participating families are interested in maximizing their guests' exposure to Spanish culture and in making them a part of the family. Many life-long friendships have developed from these relationships.

Students who choose to study at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia are given the opportunity to see a naturally beautiful part of the world, surrounded by world class beaches, national parks, and state forests. It is a true outdoor lifestyle where they live in apartments with Australian students as well as students from all over the world. It is a top rated institution which is both academically challenging and culturally stimulating. Both of these programs provide excellent study abroad opportunities for our students.

Requirements for studying abroad: 2.5 - 3.0 minimum GPA, depending on program
