SPAIN

Subjects of Study: Over 200 courses each year in over 55 disciplines (highlights: International Business, Engineering, English, Spanish, International Relations, etc.)

Program Highlights: Full American university with 680 students. Extremely diverse student body; 20% Spanish, 45% American and 35% from the rest of world.  65 nationalities and 45 languages spoken.  Faculty and staff permanent to Spain. Extensive activities like sports, theater, music lessons, creative writing magazine, student government, volunteering, campus ministry retreats, class-related trips as well as many other non-academic trips.

Financial Aid: Students who already receive US federal financial aid most likely will be able to apply this to their semester abroad.  The Madrid Campus gives priority for work-grant positions to its permanent students.  However, visiting students interested in holding a work-grant position (which entitles them to up to 15 percent tuition discount in exchange for up to ten hours of on-campus work per week) may apply.  For students wishing to supplement their finances, citizens of non-European Union countries holding a student card are now allowed to work off campus for up to twenty hours a week.  These jobs require some degree of fluency in Spanish.  Students will also find opportunities in Madrid for jobs tutoring English, other foreign languages, and the sciences
