Rev. Thomas B. Curran, O.S.F.S., an ordained Roman Catholic priest and a member of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, was inaugurated as Rockhurst University's 14th president on October 27, 2006.

"I am grateful to God for the opportunity to minister as the 14th president of Rockhurst University," said Curran. "I am honored and humbled by the confidence placed in me by the entire Rockhurst community.  I also consider myself blessed by my own community, the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales.  I look forward to building upon the Rockhurst tradition where students are instructed in how to learn, to lead and to serve."

Curran has a long history with Jesuit higher education.  He earned graduate degrees from two Jesuit universities and served as associate vice president for university relations and assistant to the president at Regis University in Denver.  In addition to his fund-raising duties and work for the president at Regis, he was also a religious studies faculty member and a university ministry team member and retreat leader.

Prior to his work at Regis, Fr. Curran served as president of Salesianum School in Wilmington, Delaware, a Catholic high school operated by the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales.  During his tenure as high school president, he founded the Nativity Preparatory School, a middle school for low-income boys, where he also served as executive director.

Fr. Curran's educational background includes degrees in politics (B.A) and theology (M.A.) from DeSales University, liberal studies, public policy and government (M.A.) from Georgetown University, law (J.D.) from the Catholic University of America and business (M.B.A.) from Saint Joseph's University.
