Students from Jesuit colleges and universities from across the country gathered at Loyola University New Orleans March 9-11 for an Ignatian Family Teach-In that addressed issues of racism and poverty in the region and encouraged students to confront these issues in their own communities. In addition to the Teach-In, entitled "Rebuilding Communities: Facing Racism and Poverty," which was sponsored by the Ignatian Solidarity Network (ISN), many students participated in service activities in New Orleans the week of March 5-9 and March 12-16. |

Students from Jesuit colleges and universities gather for the annual Ignatian Family Teach-In in Columbus, GA. The Teach-In is linked to the annual gathering that calls for the closing of the School of the Americas (SOA), now named the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHISC). Graduates of the school are connected to the murders of the Jesuits and their co-workers in El Salvador on November 16, 1989, and with many other victims of human rights abuses. |

Organized by the Sarasota/Bradenton chapter of the Xavier University National Alumni Association, volunteers spent the day painting and doing maintenance and yard work at local charities and community centers. |
