WASHINGTON, DC - All 28 Jesuit institutions are listed near the top of their classification category among America’s “Best Colleges,” according to the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings for 2014. The twenty-seven Jesuit research and master's institutions and one Jesuit liberal arts college ranked in the upper segment of their categories.

Some of the highlights from this year's rankings include Creighton University’s eleventh year in a row as No. 1 for Midwest master's universities; an eight-point move for Marquette University from 83 to 75 among national universities; and a seven-point move for both College of the Holy Cross (from 32 to 25 among liberal arts colleges) and Saint Peter's University (from 108 to 101 among Northern regional master's universities). In total, 11 Jesuit institutions moved up in the rankings this year.

Rev. Michael J. Sheeran, SJ, president of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, said, "The 2014 U.S. News & World Report rankings clearly demonstrate that Jesuit colleges and universities across the nation continue to rank as institutions of educational excellence."

Federal Relations


AJCU Federal Relations Network is the lobbying arm of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities and comprised of at least one representative from each one of the twenty-eight Jesuit Colleges and Universities. The Network is kept up to date on an on-going basis by the Vice President for Federal Relations on all issues relating to Appropriations, budget, higher education authorization issues and taxes. The Network meets annually in September for a Legislative Conference and also participates in the Annual Committee for Education Funding Legislative Conference and Awards Dinner.

AJCU Conferences


The 35+ Conferences sponsored by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) are affinity groups within the AJCU Network. The Conferences provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, information and best practices; support the professional development of their members; and present opportunities for AJCU representatives to discuss opportunities and challenges in Jesuit higher education. Most of the AJCU Conference groups meet in person at least once a year, and many of them communicate regularly through an AJCU listserv.
