Rev. Michael J. Sheeran, SJ
On April 1, 2013, Rev. Michael J. Sheeran became president of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) in Washington, D.C. Prior to his tenure at AJCU, he served as president of Regis University.

Father Sheeran began his term as the 23rd president of Regis on January 1, 1993. He retired as president, May 31, 2012. He had served as academic vice president of the University since 1982.
In August 1993, Father Sheeran hosted the first meeting between Pope John Paul II and President Bill Clinton at Regis University. He also served as an expert commentator for Channel 4 in Denver during World Youth Day and the 2005 election of a new Pope.
Father Sheeran received his doctorate in politics from Princeton University in 1977. His dissertation on the consensus-based Quaker decision-making process is now a book used by Quakers to teach their method to new members of their community. He entered the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1957 and was ordained a Catholic priest in 1970.
Father Sheeran joined Regis University in 1975 as Assistant Professor of History and Political Science and Director of Student Academic Services. In 1977, he was named Academic Dean of the College and became Academic Vice President in 1982. He also taught at St. Louis University and at Regis Jesuit High School in Denver.
Father Sheeran is a trustee of John Carroll University in Cleveland, OH.
Father Sheeran is a former trustee of the University of San Francisco; the Regis Jesuit High School Board in Denver; the St. John Vianney Seminary Board (Archdiocese of Denver), and the Executive Committee of the Association of Jesuit Colleges & Universities (AJCU). Other board service has included: National Board of Campus Compact; Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design; Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri; Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska; Loyola University of New Orleans; the Colorado Institute of Technology Board of Directors; the Association of Catholic Colleges & Universities (ACCU) Board of Directors; Community College of Aurora Advisory Council; and chairman of the board for Mile High United Way.
Father Sheeran received an Honorary Degree from the University of Denver in June, 2000 and an Honorary Degree from the University of San Francisco in May, 2012.
