Search for Profiles of Jesuit Institutions on U-CAN
All 28 Jesuit institutions in the U.S. are signed on to participate in the University and College Accountability Network (U-CAN), sponsored by the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). The goal of U-CAN is to "give, in a common format, prospective students and their families concise, Web-based consumer friendly information on individual private colleges and universities."
U-CAN provides profiles of independent higher education institutions in a consistent, graphically appealing, and consumer-friendly way. The campaign, which consists of hundreds of institutional profiles that include comparable data and links to qualitative campus information, responds to U.S. Congress' and the U.S. Department of Education's call for more accountability and transparency among our nation's colleges and universities. The following is a table featuring links to U-CAN profiles for all 28 Jesuit colleges and universities:
"The U-CAN website includes all major U.S. colleges and universities and provides students, parents, and high school counselors with quick and accurate information about these schools. I am impressed with how much information is available as well as the two-page summary of statistics on each institution," said Don Bishop, Creighton University's Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management.
In order to develop the format and content of the consumer information template, NAICU worked with focus groups of students and parents that provided feedback on the information they most needed to make an informed college choice.
"Jesuit colleges and universities are enthusiastic about participating in the U-CAN campaign because it gives them a way of presenting comprehensive institutional data to students and parents," said Fr. Charles Currie, S.J., President of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU). "We want students to make informed decisions when choosing a college, and the U-CAN database offers them valuable information in finding a college that is the right fit for them."
