Nursing Majors Study Abroad for Nursing Majors – it is difficult to find study abroad programs for U.S. Nursing students. Through a long process of collaboration, we have a strong study abroad nursing semester with the National Irish University of Galway. Two Nursing students from NUI Galway attend Fairfield's school of Nursing and 10-12 Fairfield University students attend the School of Nursing in Galway. The students take major nursing courses, which count toward the Bachelors of Nursing degree. In addition, Public Health Nursing program in Managua, Nicaragua is available as a short-course. Both Nursing programs are open to all students (Fairfield and external university students)
Semester/Year in Managua, Nicaragua at Universidad Centroamericana Nicaragua, the "land of lakes and volcanoes” offers U. S. students a unique immersion experience in Latin America. This program provides students with a transforming experience, develops awareness of social justice issues and prepares them for committed, global citizenship. This program is open to all students (both Fairfield University and external university students) who have at least intermediate Spanish language ability. Academic internships are also available.
Semester/Year in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Tanzania, the land of Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti, and the Spice island of Zanzibar are the backdrop for the Fairfield University program in East Africa. Offered in conjunction with the University of Dar es Salaam and the Loyola Jesuit High School, U. S. students are immersed in contemporary African culture and society. Through the course work, living experiences, excursions, reflection and service experiences, students encounter the challenges of social injustice and the opportunities of modern Africa to prepare them for committed, global citizenship. This program is open to all students (both Fairfield University and external university students) who are seeking an indelible experience in Africa.
