IN MEMORIAM: Rev. Robert F. Drinan, S.J.
It is with great sadness that the Association of Jesuit Colleges and
Universities (AJCU) acknowledges the passing of Rev. Robert F. Drinan,
S.J., who died on January 28. As a former U.S. Congressman, and
the only Jesuit to serve as a Member of the U.S. House of
Representatives, he raised awareness about peace and justice, and human
rights issues during his ten-year tenure as a public servant. A beloved
priest, professor, lawyer and friend, Fr. Drinan was a distinguished
faculty member at Georgetown University Law Center when he died, but
his true legacy was his enduring quest to help maintain every person's
human dignity and to reduce human suffering. In doing so, he brought
about a more just and peaceful world.
