GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

Applications packets may be obtained from the Department of Nursing by calling 1-800-793-1715 ext 6640, 509 323-6640, visiting our website gonzaga.edu or emailing Molly Wood at woodm@gonzaga.edu.  In special circumstances, individuals applying for admission may be permitted to take courses for one semester while the admission process is completed. The designated fee must accompany the application form. Admission decisions are based upon the applicant's total profile and space available. Application deadlines are two weeks prior to each of five eight week sessions.

 

Application decisions are based upon an applicant's total profile. Selection is based on:

  1. completed University application;
  2. an earned bachelor's degree accredited school;
  3. current Registered Nurse license;
  4. minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
  5. current professional vita
  6. Official score from Miller Analogies Test (MAT)
  7. typewritten statement describing
    1. interest in the program and purpose of achieving a MSN degree,
    2. professional goals,
    3. strengths,
    4. professional experiences
  8. two satisfactory letters of recommendation  

REQUIREMENTS FOR MSN 

The nurse educator option prepares nurses to work as educators in academic, hospital, and community-based settings.  Students develop an area of clinical specialization as well as skills in curriculum development, teaching-learning strategies, and evaluation.  Particular emphasis is placed on tailoring content and presentation to learners’ needs. Practicum experiences take place in a variety of educational settings. 36 credits

On-Campus: One on-campus visit during 600 level course work.

The MSN Nurse Educator specialization program requires 36 credit hours of graduate coursework.
