2011 National Book Award Winners Announced

The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities and the Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society proudly announce the 2011 National Book Award winners in the category of "The Humanities." Ninety-eight entries from twenty Jesuit institutions were submitted. In the category of “The Humanities,” awards have been given in the disciplines of History, Literature/Fine Arts, Philosophy and Ethics, and Theology. The winners each receive $1,000 and a commemorative plaque.

The Alpha Sigma Nu Book Awards are open to all faculty and administrators (including those that are emeritus), who have published a book in the three years immediately prior to the year of the designated academic discipline. The books are judged by volunteer faculty members on the basis of scholarship, significance of topic to scholars across several disciplines, authority in interpretation, objectivity, presentation, and style. All entries are due March 1 of the category year.

The 2012 Competition will be in the category of "The Sciences,” for which there will be four awards of $1,000 each. Entries for this category are due March 1, 2012. For more information on the history of the award and how to enter, please visit the Alpha Sigma Nu website: www.AlphaSigmaNu.org.
